Il s\u2019agit de la gencive, de l\u2019os, du tissu qui enveloppe la racine dentaire (appel\u00e9 le c\u00e9ment), ainsi que du ligament (dit \u00ab alv\u00e9olo-dentaire \u00bb) qui relie la dent \u00e0 l\u2019os. Les traitements de surfa\u00e7age permettent d\u2019enlever le tartre et les bact\u00e9ries n\u00e9fastes au parodonte.
